Most people have never seen a Superfund
site – a site that has been identified as being one of the most
toxic sites in the country - or heard the story behind it. This
shows a portion of the Diamond Alkali Superfund site, where industrial
chemical company Diamond Alkali manufactured numerous toxic chemicals,
including much of the Agent Orange that was used in the Vietnam War.
In the background, the gravel mound visible is the cap on
the toxic site which sits below, buried underneath a concrete cap to
prevent further spreading of the toxins.
