Museum Showcase at B'nai Abraham

The Alternative Press

B'nai Abraham, a member of the GreenFaith Certification Program, created a showcase of their 'green' action steps.

Temple B’nai Abraham is fortunate to house a beautiful space in the lobby of the synagogue to display exhibits, known as the Sodowick Museum Showcase. Throughout the year, the Museum is home to a variety of exhibits stewarded by the creativity of co-chairs Ellen Klein and Evi Meinhardt and their committee.

For the month of January there is a wonderful exhibit entitled TBA: Our Environmental Journey chronicling in photos and relevant items the temple’s “green” initiatives sponsored and implemented by the temple’s Social Action Committee (SAC) and its Green Team.. The display was fashioned and crafted by the exhibit chairs and SAC Green Team members Lisa Reisboard and Susan Ochs-Scher . Included in the display are photos of the solar panels installed on the temple’s roof in 2006 through the efforts of TBA Facilities Manager Tracey Bent and SAC member Deborah Prinz with the guidance of Reverend Fletcher Harper, Executive Director of Green Faith  The temple is in the process of acquiring Green Faith Certification, a multi-year process in which participating institutions carry out initiatives to integrate environmental themes into their worship, religious education, facility maintenance, and social outreach. The GreenFaith Certification Program empowers religious institutions to play their uniquely important leadership role in the development of an environmentally just and sustainable world.
