Energy Conservation
Did you know that the average house of worship causes
its greatest negative environmental impact through energy
use? The same is true for the average U.S. household. And
did you know that for the average house of worship energy
costs are the second highest fixed cost after personnel?
GreenFaith thinks it is time for communities
of faith to become leaders in the fight against climate change
through energy conservation, and at the same time save valuable
funds to invest in religious activity and outreach.

Energize Your Congregation's Viewing of "An Inconvenient Truth"
Many congregations are hosting screenings of the DVD of
An Inconvenient Truth, the acclaimed documentary about
Al Gore's "slide
show" on global warming. GreenFaith representatives have facilitated discussions
after more than 30 such screenings - from large settings such as St. Mary's
Catholic Church in Pompton Lakes and Temple Israel in Ridgewood
to smaller congregations like Temple Beth Israel in Maywood
and Leonia Presbyterian Church — to further explore and commit to
the kinds of actions rooted in faith that individuals and
congregations can take to lessen global warming. GreenFaith
invites all people viewing the film to fill out an Energy
Commitment Card, sign up for wind power and to sign a letter
to the Governor asking him to make New Jersey a leader in the fight against
global warming.
