Temple Bnai Abraham of Livingston
Temple Bnai Abraham went solar through Lighting the
Way in 2006 with a 3-section array installed on the facility’s
flat roof. Flat roof solar arrays sit on top of the roof surface and
are not bolted into the building. A system consisting of weights and
wind baffles keep the array securely planted on the roof surface. Sun
Farm Network’s surface
mounting systems have been tested up to wind speeds of 125
miles per hour and do not impact existing roof warranties.
TBA celebrated
the dedication of their solar array in October, 2006 during
the holiday of Sukkot, the Jewish Festival of Booths. This festival serves
as a reminder in the Jewish tradition of the Israelites 40-year wandering
in the wilderness. Sukkot also serves as a harvest festival. The festival
is now often used by synagogues as an opportunity to highlight the relationship
between Judaism and the environment.
