Current Status of Lighting the Way
Over the past few years, more than 1,000
total solar array installations in New Jersey have been completed – a
meteoric rise fueled by a generous rebate program offered
through the New Jersey Board of Public Utilities’ Clean
Energy Program. These rebates paid for up to 60% of the initial
cost of solar arrays.
Because of the rapid increase in demand,
rebate funds have been exhausted through 2008. The Board
of Public Utilities is currently evaluating several options
for supporting the future development of New Jersey ’s
solar marketplace.
With no rebates currently available, and
because GreenFaith anticipates more favorable options for “going
solar” to
become available over the coming two years, GreenFaith has
placed Lighting the Way projects on hold as of October, 2006.
