Wind Energy
In addition to solar, wind energy presents
another viable renewable energy source.
Here, GreenFaith
and Community Energy offer an attractive option – buying
your electricity through GreenFaith’s Adopt-a-Windmill
Campaign. It costs $11/month to buy half the average
New Jersey household’s electricity supply from a wind
farm right here in New Jersey.
GreenFaith's Adopt-a-Windmill Campaign
The
wind turbine to the right is at the Jersey-Atlantic Wind
Farm in Atlantic City, our state’s first wind farm
and the first coastal wind farm in the country. GreenFaith
is offering religious institutions and individuals the chance
to buy New Jersey Wind® from this facility through GreenFaith’s Adopt-a-Windmill
Campaign.
When you buy New Jersey Wind® through
GreenFaith, you will be billed on your regular monthly utility
bill, and your purchase will be credited towards the Campaign.
Your service and electricity delivery agreements with your
utility remain exactly the same.
After collecting enough subscribers
to use one turbine’s
output, GreenFaith will hold an interfaith service and public
event at the Wind Farm. It will take 1,700 households each
purchasing 200 kilowatt-hours (kWh) of New Jersey Wind® to ‘adopt’ a
turbine.
New Jersey Wind® is sold in blocks of
100 kilowatt hours at $5.50/block/month. 200 kWh of New Jersey
Wind®,
which is 50% of the average New Jersey household’s
electricity use, costs $11.00 monthly. You can also purchase
more, and green your entire power supply. If you’d
like to sign up now, click here to access the registration
form. (link to 2ada)
